Lukey-P turns ONE!!!

Happy Birthday to our littlest love! Luke turned ONE last week - which I keep capitalizing because I can't believe it. And this post is me officially coming to terms with it really happening; I was thinking if I didn't write about it, it would be like it never happened. But alas, my baby is one.

It is amazing how one little person can bring such joy to your life. This little man is such a bright light. His smile is constant (unless you've taken away his goldfish) and infectious. He is loud, courageous, a bit of a dare-devil and very mischievous. His laugh is music. He squeals and screams. And it's high pitched and loud. I'm talking "cover your ears because it hurts" kind of loud... "lots of stares in the grocery store" loud... "are you injuring your child?" loud. Loud. But it's also "try really hard not to laugh because it's actually funny, yet I don't want him to know that" loud. He is loud and I love it. And he snuggles. He growls. He is full of love.

He's only fallen down the stairs once (with a babysitter) but only had a bruised chin to show for it. He has bonked his head, slipped, toppled, tackled, crashed and burned... yet he always ends up with a smile on his face. Yes - he's going to be the kid who jumps off the roof, does flips into the pool, rides his bike with no hands... I can see it now. (And J-man will be chasing after him screaming, "No! You're breaking the rules!!!")

He loves hats, balls, mac n' cheese, bananas, chobani yogurt, outside, dancing, clapping. Adores his bro. Delights is his daddy. Is Mama's little buddy. Is afraid of dogs?! And does not like holding hands...both of which Mama will make him overcome.

He is a trooper. He is pure delight. He tickles my heart and brightens the toughest days. I love my Lukey-P.

And to top it all off - he's cute. Oddly, a lot of these pictures don't capture that adorable smile that's always on his face, but they do give you a little does of Luke the Duke.

Fire hat.

Pirate hat.

Monster hat.

Adoring my baby.

Bubble pipe.

"I got these out all by myself. Don't you dare take them away."

Daddy snuggles.

Birthday boy! His first move was to dive his face right into the frosting. But then he sat there and poked at it. Finally, I scooped some of the frosting off and he chowed down on the cake. Turns out he is not a frosting boy! So foreign to me!

Getting naked for some finger painting!

After a few minutes of using his hands, he literally stood up and squatted down right on the middle of the paper. Mama's hoping we have a little artist on our hands.

Now what?

Happy Birthday, our sweet Duke. You are oh so very loved.
