Goodbye Salt Lake! Hello, Nashville!

After eight long years (seven for me), we've said goodbye to Salt Lake City and the University of Utah and headed down south to our new home - Nashville, Tennessee! Wow - writing that is weird. Reid has started his residency at Vanderbilt University and he's loving it. We don't see him as much as we like, but we're trying to enjoy the time we do have with him.

Our hope, while living in Nashville, is to get out, discover, enjoy, get involved, grow in our walks with Christ and to not succumb to the heat. My, oh, my!

My hope, while living in Nashville and being the wife of a resident, is to learn to live each day with joy & purpose, to be a focused, intentional mother, a committed, supportive wife, to get connected and involved and to choose to live daily for His Glory.

And I'll be using this blog - which has been nearly lifeless for a while, until now - to share our story as we figure out how to live life in the south... so grab some sweet tea and get comfy.

Before we move on to life in Nashville, let's take a trip down memory lane.

Reid & I on our last hike in Salt Lake City - Desolation Trail.

Our boys on the morning we started packing. Goodbye 1970's apartment.
You won't be missed.

At this juncture, I'd like to give a shout out to all our friends in SLC-who will be missed. Thank you so much for your help with the move. You guys were amazing. We really appreciate you and your support. We're sure going to miss you and hope to stay connected. Praying for all of you and your friendships with one another - they are oh so important!

After leaving SLC, we spent about 2 weeks in Colorado. The first day there, we were able to meet up with our dear friends, Matt & Kelly, at a park in Denver. We miss them so very much and hope to see them down south some time!

Luke - diggin' the swing.

A morning at the zoo in Colorado Springs with Nana, Mimi & Pa!

Feeding giraffes! I was so proud of James. He tends to be a bit of a cautious one when it comes to gooey things - but he was all about feeding the giraffes this tasty lettuce. He'd jump back every time they took it from him. So funny.

Hi, Pa.

Pa & J-man.

Oh... cuteness.

James & Daddy.

Sometimes this one is a little fiesty.

After our time in Colorado, Reid and his Dad took a long drive to Nashville and I flew down with my boys and my parents - so helpful!!!

Hello, Nashville!

We are loving our house! Pictures to follow soon. It's a great fit for us - except for the "rockin" backyard (again, stay tuned for pics). We're very close to being settled - just have some pictures and such to finish. Reid was super and painted James' room while we were gone for a week. It's now blue and he loves it. Unfortunately, Luke's room is currently a lovely shade of purple. It will have to stay that way until we get a chance to attack it. Good thing he doesn't have much of an opinion about colors at the moment. The rest of the house is looking good and we're starting to feel more and more at home in it.

We have a great little park and a pool just a block away from our house. Can you say "awesome"?! The pool will get a lot of visits from us. We like to take little trips to the park too - if we can get out before it's too hot!

Luke's pretty excited to get rollin. And it's hard to tell, but James has his arm around Luke - such a good big brother.

Swinging little man... is that a devious look on his face?

Love it.

Well, we'll be back soon.

See ya.

  2. Love the photos, the info...all of it! And, oh how I miss you. Seriously, I think of you all the time. Just a few evenings ago, Nathan said that we just needed to wear our "whatever vests" proudly and not give a flip. Thank you for creeping into our conversations when least expected :)

We're praying for you and your fam. God is going to do such cool things in and through your lives. Can't wait to hear how! Love you, friend!
